The Office of the Municipal Clerk said residents interested in running in the City of Atlanta Special Election this November to fill the unexpired City Council Post 3 At-Large seat term must first qualify to run.
The qualification period is Tuesday, June 25, through Thursday, June 27, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Committee Room 2, second floor, Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave.
The Special Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, in conjunction with the General Election as governed by state law. A run-off election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
There are two ways to qualify:
- File a Notice of Candidacy and pay the set qualifying fee of $2,170.80 to the Municipal Clerk/Election Superintendent.
- File a Qualifying Petition and a Pauper’s Affidavit with the Municipal Clerk/Election Superintendent, affirming the candidate’s inability to pay the required qualifying fee.
The seat was previsously held by Keisha Sean Waites, who resigned to run for Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts.
