Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on the Northwest Trail – Segment 5 on June 24 at 10:30 a.m.

According to a press release, this is a significant milestone for the BeltLine as it is the first segment of the Northwest Trail to undergo construction. 

This 0.7-mile section of trail begins at the intersection of Marietta Boulevard and Huff Road, traveling to Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard and English Street in Blandtown. It will connect with the completed Westside Trail – Segment 3, which runs 1.22 miles from Huff Road to Law Street, where it links to the Westside Connector Trail into Downtown. Construction is expected to last 14 months.  

The design for the remaining 3.6 miles of the trail has either been completed or is currently in progress, according to the press release.

Upon completion, the full Northwest Trail will extend 4.3 miles through Blandtown, Underwood Hills, Berkeley Park, Loring Heights, Brookwood, Collier Hills, Collier Hills North, Ardmore, Brookwood Hills, Peachtree Hills, Garden Hills, and Lindbergh/Morosgo neighborhoods.
