The suspect wanted for shooting a man near the East Lake MARTA station on Friday afternoon has voluntarily surrendered to police without incident at the Atlanta Police Zone 6 Precinct.
According to Atlanta Police, officers responded to 2227 College Avenue just after 2 p.m. following a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was alert, conscious, and breathing, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were acquaintances and the shooting was the result of a dispute.
According to social media, the suspect was spotted running through the streets around the Kirkwood and Oakhurst neighborhoods, leading some residents to fear there was an active shooter.
Police alerted citizens to avoid the area near College Avenue as well as Sisson Ave. NE, Wisteria Way NE, Browning St. NE, Clifford Ave. NE, and Murray Hill Ave. NE.
Just before 6 p.m., police lifted the alert and said they were investigating a car found with bullet holes near 1480 Commerce Ave. in Decatur. Police said the car was related to the East Lake incident, but have not released details.
