MARTA Police have arrested the suspect in a fatal shooting at Arts Center station on Sunday night.
Xavier Mosley, 38, was taken into custody Wednesday by members of the MARTA Police CIU, Atlanta Police Department Fugitive Task Force, and APD SWAT Team.
Officers served a search warrant on Mosley’s residence in Atlanta, where he was arrested and transported to the Fulton County Jail.
“We appreciate our partnership with the Atlanta Police Department,” said MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher in a media statement “This is a great example of how local agencies collaborate to achieve the common goal of keeping our communities safe.”
Mosley has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Mosley was also issued a permanent ban from MARTA.
According to officials, a MARTA security guard heard gunshots around 9 p.m. on Aug. 11 and then found the victim – Demarco Mathis, 45 – with multiple gunshot wounds in the bus loop. He later died at the hospital.
