The Brookhaven Police Department has charged two people with felonies for stealing construction equipment on Buford Highway. The case is active and ongoing, BPD said in a press release.
Margarito Amaya-Zalasar and Juan Torres-Tello, both Atlanta residents, are being charged with multiple counts of theft. Amaya-Zalasar is a co-owner of Hermanos Amaya Painting.
After BPD opened an investigation into the theft of construction equipment in June, an extensive investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions took place in Georgia to identify the two suspects.
On Aug. 14, detectives from multiple other agencies executed a search warrant in the city limits of Dunwoody and took Amaya-Zalasar and Torres-Tello into custody.
No further information has been released at this time.
