Westbound I-285 lanes will closed nightly in Sandy Springs starting today through Sept. 17 between Roswell Road and Mount Vernon Highway for noise wall construction.
A Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) news release said the weather may affect the schedule.
Motorists can expect up to two lanes and shoulder to closed westbound between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the anticipated two-week project.
Intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures may occur within the work zone. Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution, reduce speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Motorists can get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or through the Georgia 511 app.
The project is a part of the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project that extends the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive. It included the reconstruction of the Mount Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.
The project is one of GDOT’s I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects. It is one of the large-scale projects across the state to create additional capacity to improve freight movement, provide operational improvements and efficiencies, enhance safety, and decrease travel times on the transportation network.
