Sandy Springs will ask for community input on revised concepts in its North Springs MARTA Corridor Study during an open house at city hall on Nov. 18.
The city has designed a transit-oriented development concept for North Springs MARTA Station and a conceptual street design for Peachtree Dunwoody Road from Spalding Drive to Abernathy Road, according to a news release from the city.
The public reviewed draft concepts at an August open house. Those have been revised based on community input.
The project team will explain the revised station site and corridor concepts during the open house at 1 Galambos Way from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The news release said an online survey will remain open after the open house and through Dec. 1. A link to the survey will be shared on the project website.
The city proposed the North Springs MARTA Corridor Study project to make North Springs Station a more walkable destination, according to the release. The updated street design concept would improve multimodal safety and comfort on Peachtree Dunwoody Road and connect the station area to the planned extension of the PATH400 trail to the south.
The project features a transit-oriented development concept for the undeveloped portion of the North Springs Station site, identifying opportunities to enhance walking and biking access to the station, integrating placemaking features, and outlining a vision for potential future development on the site.
The city leads the project with Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) funding and support through its Livable Center Initiative program, the release said. Other key partners in the study include MARTA and the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts.
