The Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse will return for the 16th year this holiday season with a 7,500-square-foot residence formerly built for the legendary golfer Bobby Jones. The home will be open to the public for tours Nov. 21 through Dec. 15.
The 15-day fundraiser benefiting Atlanta History Center will showcase the work of Georgia design talents inside the classic colonial home designed by Kirk Design in partnership with builder Firelight Homes, Tish Mills Interiors, and landscape architect Floralis.
The home, located at 3488 Tuxedo Road, Atlanta, GA 30305, will spotlight the work of 18 local interior designers who have been tasked to transform each of the home’s five bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms. Tours of the Showhouse will be accompanied by festive events and interactive demonstrations.
The 1930s mansion was originally gifted to Bobby Jones from the City of Atlanta after he won the U.S. Open at 21-years-old. The historic home has been revitalized, using exterior materials similar to its earlier years, but with a new wing and amenities.
On the side of the residence, a replica of Augusta National Golf Course’s Hole 12 has been installed by The European Company, while inside, the study where Jones co-conceived Augusta National retains its original paneling and now boasts the addition of a speakeasy. Other new additions include a wine cellar, rec room, home theatre, gym, and a primary suite with his-and-her closets overlooking the pool.
The Showhouse’s hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. The Showhouse is closed every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.
Additional information, the full schedule of events, parking details and tickets are available at AtlantaHolidayHome.com. General Admission and special events tickets go on sale on 9/23 and start at $45. The tour is presented by Firelight Homes and hosted by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.
