Ice cream is coming back to Dunwoody Village.

The day after the closure of longtime Dunwoody fixture Bruster’s Ice Cream, Dash Hospitality Group, which owns a group of restaurants a few storefronts away, announced it was opening an ice cream shop called Good Vibes: Ice Cream Shop & Soda Pop.

The store, which will open next spring, will be housed in the same 1,800-square foot space as the former Bruster’s, according to Dash Hospitality Group’s David Abes, who said Regency officials, which owns the center, approached him with the idea months before Bruster’s closed.

“About six months ago, Regency said they were going to make a change and asked us if we wanted the space,” he said. “We weren’t thinking about it at all, but when they offered it to us, we said we would love it.”

Abes said he has received much positive feedback about Good Vibes, with just a few negative comments from long-time Bruster’s fans.

The shop will serve a wide variety of ice cream, including non-dairy and sorbet options, fresh-baked brownies, & “fizzy” hand-crafted sodas that can be transformed into “fuzzies” with the addition of a shot of liquor from Bar{n}, one of Dash’s restaurants in the Funwoody complex.

Good Vibes will feature indoor and patio seating with multiple retro arcade games, including PacMan, Donkey Kong, and “whatever else I can find from that era,” Abes said.

“We just want places where people of all ages can hang out and enjoy Dunwoody Village,” he said. “We noticed that there were a lot of families that came to Funwoody sent their kids to Bruster’s.”

Bruster’s has been a longtime fixture in Dunwoody, a favorite stop for post-sports get-togethers and family celebrations. It was first located across the street in a stand-alone building that now houses Village Burger. It then moved across the parkway to its current location.

Bruster’s last day of operation was Nov. 17. Employees at the Bruster’s said they didn’t know if there were any plans for the store to relocate to another location in Dunwoody. The sign on the door invited patrons to visit its Sandy Springs location at 226 Johnson Ferry Road.
