Fulton County District 2 Commissioner Bob Ellis was elected as the vice chair for the board of commissioners by the panel on Jan. 8 .

Ellis will serve as vice chair for the next year, according to a news release.

“Serving in this role is an honor and privilege,” Ellis said. “To be able to serve the residents of Fulton County and the board once again in this capacity is something I will not take lightly. As the vice chair, I will continue working with my colleagues on the Board to provide quality programs and customer service for all residents.”

Ellis served as vice chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners from 2017 to 2019 and again from 2023 to 2024. District 2 encompasses the cities of Milton, Mountain Park and large parts of Alpharetta, Roswell, and Sandy Springs. The release said he is known for his work in strengthening infrastructure, procedures, and management in Fulton County.

First elected to office in 2014, Ellis also serves as the chairman of the County’s Audit Committee, a board member of the Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority, the Atlanta-Fulton County Water Resources Commission, and the Fulton County Employees Retirement System.

The release said Ellis has been a leader in seeking reforms to the Fulton County property tax system and lower tax rates, while sounding a strong voice for improving the county’s delivery of Behavioral Health and Public Health services.

 The Commerce native graduated with the highest honors from the University of Georgia’s Terry School of Business and is a long-time resident of North Fulton County. Ellis and his wife Jennifer have three children and reside in Milton.
