Q: At what event can one hear the mournful sounds of a bagpipe and race around Dunwoody with the hopes of being rewarded with a homemade pie or cake?
A: Saint Luke’s Presbyterian Church’s 19th annual Tartan Trot, which harkens to the roots of the Presbyterian Church to 16th century Scotland and the Reformation.
On Feb. 8, an anticipated 1,000 runners will gather to the sound of bagpipes to compete in the 19th Annual Tartan Trot 5K/10K race featuring two full loops that starts and ends at Saint Luke’s Presbyterian Church.
The race starts at 8 a.m. for walkers gathered in the parking lot of the church, 1978 Mount Vernon Rd., and at 8:30 a.m. for 5K/10K runners. The Tot Trot begins at 7:50 a.m. and the awards ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m.
As per a long-standing tradition, winners in various categories take home a home-made pie or cake. To that end, organizers are asking for volunteers to help assist to make their goal of having 150 confectionaries.
Baked goods can be dropped off in the lobby of the church anytime on Friday, Feb, 7. The goodies must be wrapped/covered and have on them a list of any included allergens.
