The Dunwoody City Council at its Feb. 10 meeting discussed plans to pave an additional 10 miles of its roads in 2025.

When complete, 87 percent of its roads will have been repaved since the program’s inception, according to Dunwoody Director of Public Works Michael Smith.

Eight bids were received, with the low bid of $2.4 million coming from Stewart Brothers, Smith said.

This is the second of a five-year repaving plan. Roads to be repaved include several streets in the southeast part of Dunwoody, including Kings Point Drive, Brookhurst Drive, and Kingsgate Drive, as well as portions of North Peachtree Drive and Tilly Mill.

In all, the 2025 repaving plan will involve 28 streets, Smith said. Last year, the public works department paved about 13 miles of streets.

Smith said the city may also receive federal funds, which will be used to add streets on the 2026 list to this year’s list. The allotted money may add another two miles of road repaving.

In other action at the short meeting, the council:

  • Swore in the city’s latest police hire, Jack Rose, who formerly worked with the Sandy Springs force;
  • Paused for a moment of silence for slain Roswell Police Officer Jeremy Labonte, whose wife is a teacher at Kingsley Elementary School;
  • Recognized a group of city volunteers who won the 2024 President’s Volunteer Service Awards;
  • Approved on its consent agenda funding for stormwater repairs at 4425 E. Kings Point Circle.
