The 12th annual Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) is returning March 8-22 with more than 100 informative events planned throughout the city.

One of the largest science festivals in the U.S., this year’s ASF offers something for everyone, from young learners to curious adults.

Among the wide-array of subjects that will be explored by the educational festival include cyborgs, brain imaging, animals such as snakes and salamanders, coffee, Lego, along with familiar school subjects like math and chemistry, to name a few.

“Not only does the 12th annual Atlanta Science Festival spotlight the wonder of science in its various forms, we strive to do so by curating a two-week experience that’s as exciting and intriguing as possible,” said Meisa Salaita, executive co-director of Science ATL (the engineers of ASF). “We want to open minds, educate, inspire, entertain and spark the interest of the scientists of tomorrow.”

ASF kicks off with “Celebrate STEAM: Atlanta Science Festival Launch”, taking place at Georgia Tech on March 8.

The family-friendly open-house event features hands-on activities, demonstrations and exhibits highlighting various cutting-edge science, including robotics, bioengineering, nanotechnology and chemical engineering.

The two-week festival will conclude with the “Exploration Expo,” an event at Piedmont Park in which families and science lovers can enjoy a number of interactive booths and live presentations.

“Throughout the entire Atlanta Science Festival, it’s important that we feature a melting pot of diverse scientific voices and promote accessibility,” said Salaita. “We want kids to know what engineers do, that girls can be coders, that life as a scientist can be one of outdoor adventure, and that a future in science can be for anyone!”

All Atlanta Science Festival events are scheduled to take place at venues across metro Atlanta.

Many of the events are free of charge to attend, while some require registration and/or a nominal fee, according to a release.
