The nonprofit RE: IMAGINE ATL has partnered with the DeKalb County School District and Decide DeKalb to host a film festival highlighting student work on March 25.
The DeKalb County Student Film Festival will take place on March 25 at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts and Community Center in the Candler Road district. According to a RE:IMAGINE spokesperson, the films were created by DeKalb County students from November to February.
This marks the seventh annual student film festival. Twelve films will screen at the event.
Throughout the filmmaking process, RE:IMAGINE’s team of professional artists offered the student filmmakers assistance with everything from development to post-production.
“RE:IMAGINE remains connected and provides resources to continue supporting students’ filmmaking journeys,” said Dominique Ebron, RE:IMAGINE’s education manager, in a press release. “I love working with DeKalb High School teachers and students. When they reach out, we’re ready with our Teaching Artists supporting them every step of the way. We target specific needs to help students improve and engage more in their filmmaking experience. Our goal is for teachers to feel like they have mentors guiding them and their students throughout and after the film festival.”
The festival is free to attend. The DeKalb County School District will also sell concessions such as popcorn.
This piece has been updated to reflect the festival’s new start time of 6 p.m.
