The Georgia Department of Transportation is closing several lanes at North Druid Hills and I-85, continuing a massive construction project to ease the volume of traffic in the area.
Beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 10, GDOT will close one left lane on I-85 northbound Frontage Road from North Druid Hills Road to the I-85 northbound on-ramp, as well as the left turn lane from North Druid Hills Road eastbound to I-85 northbound Frontage Road.
The I-85 northbound on-ramp will remain open.
The city of Brookhaven has been working with GDOT to build a reverse intersection at North Druid Hills Road, a new access road along I-85, a vehicular bridge from Executive Park to Buford Highway, and a pedestrian bridge from Executive Park to the Peachtree Creek Greenway.
The pedestrian bridge from Executive Park to the greenway was approved in the 2020 Comprehensive Plan update. The North Fork Peachtree Creek bridge replacement at North Druid Hills Road was completed in July 2024.
The current closure is anticipated to be in effect for 50 days. In a press release, GDOT said motorists should expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.
