Donald Milton III, the Artistic Director of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus, will be conducting at the legendary concert venue, Carnegie Hall, on Sunday, May 11.
Milton III will be conducting a choral group including members of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta Choir, AGMC, and Atlanta Women’s Chorus. The group will be performing Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen, with the New England Symphonic Ensemble accompanying them.
Milton III joined the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus in January 2018 and has been the director of music for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta, the largest UU congregation in the Southeast, since 2008. Active in the Atlanta music scene, he has served as the executive director of the Atlanta Master Chorale, artistic director of the DeKalb Choral Guild, founder and artistic director of Lux Atlanta, and founder of Sky Punch, a company that produces sing-alongs, concerts, and other interactive community music events.
“We are thrilled to showcase the exceptional talent of Donald Milton III, on one of the world’s most prestigious stages,” said James E. Redcay III, chief executive officer of MidAmerica Productions, the production company behind the upcoming Carnegie Hall show.
Other music ensembles that will be taking part in the show include Brighton Choir, Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Chorus, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts (from New York), Memphis Central Concert Singers, The Ohio State University Women’s Glee Club and more.
Prior to the concert, all of the participants will spend five days in New York City to rehearse and prepare for the event, as well as to take in the sights of the Big Apple.
Tickets for the concert begin at $25 and can be purchased through CarnegieCharge at (212) 247-7800 or online at carnegiehall.org.
