Out on Film, Atlanta’s LGBT+ film festival, is hosting a number of events at Landmark Midtown Arts Cinema during Pride month, including a Pride film series.

On June 10, the film festival is partnering with Atlanta Pride, Georgia Equality, the human rights organization Lambda Legal, and former Out on Film Board Chair Craig Hardesty for a screening of “Heightened Scrutiny.” The documentary, which played at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, follows an ACLU lawyer fighting a 2023 Tennessee law that would ban gender affirming care for transgender youth.

The screening also includes a conversation with Jeff Graham, executive director of Georgia Equality; Tara Borelli, an attorney with Lambda Legal; Ben Ackerly, co-leader of the Atlanta chapter of TransParent; and trans activist Ava Davis. The conversation will be moderated by Hardesty.

The screening is free to attend. Seats can be reserved online.

On June 11, the festival will continue its June Pride film series in partnership with Landmark Midtown Arts Cinema with a screening of Gus Van Sant’s film “Milk.” The movie stars Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in California.

Tickets can be purchased online

The June Pride film series will continue with Lisa Cholodenko’s “The Kids Are All Right” on June 18 and Dee Rees’ “Pariah” on June 25.
