Alan Goodman, the CEO of Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, will step away from his role “due to ongoing health challenges,” the group announced on Monday, June 16.

“It is with heartfelt gratitude and deep respect that we share important news regarding our leadership,” Board Chair Dennis Williams wrote.

“Over the past 10 years, Alan has served our community with unwavering dedication, fostering economic development and building lasting relationships throughout the City of Brookhaven. His impact has been significant, and he will be greatly missed in this role. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to him continuing his involvement as a Goodwill Ambassador in the future,” Williams wrote.

The board of directors is engaging with an executive search firm to find a new executive director, which is a compensated, part-time position. When the role has been officially posted, the chamber will share the opportunity widely, the statement said.

Goodman is an expert in residential and commercial lending, buying and selling real estate since 1985. Before founding CM Lenders, he was president of The Goodman Group, LLC and at AFC Mortgage, Inc. During his career, Goodman has represented buyers and sellers of REO properties, leased for both landlord and tenants, and bought and sold raw land, retail, commercial, and multi-family properties.
