On August 9, something truly special is happening in Brookhaven.
We’ll cut the ribbon on our new City Centre which is not just a building, but an expression of who we are and who we aspire to be: a community that is “Better Together.”
From day one, the vision for Brookhaven City Centre has always been about more than bricks, beams, and budgets. It’s about connection. It’s about people. It’s about creating a space that brings all of us -residents, workers, neighbors, and families closer together in ways that are real, inclusive, and lasting.
As Brookhaven’s first purpose-built city hall since incorporation, this building reflects more than just our growth, it reflects our values. Located in the heart of the city at Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills, right next to the MARTA station and at the hub of our trail network, City Centre is designed to be accessible to everyone. Whether you’re arriving on foot, by bike, bus, or car, you’re welcome here.
It’s not just accessible in location, it is also welcoming in spirit. Sixty percent of the building is open to the public. That means meeting rooms, event spaces, a rooftop garden, coffee shop, public restrooms, and even a place to get information about exploring our great city. City Council chambers and staff offices fill the remaining space, but the heart of the building belongs to the people.
We intentionally chose a modern, sustainable design using mass timber to make it the first government building of its kind in Georgia. This choice was not just because it looks great, but because it reflects our long-term responsibility to future generations. This is your space, and it’s built to last.
Brookhaven is one of the most vibrant and diverse communities in the metro region. We speak dozens of languages, celebrate many cultures, and come from all walks of life. This diversity is not a challenge to overcome; it’s a strength that we celebrate. And City Centre is a living monument to that strength. It’s where an Oglethorpe University student can attend a city council meeting after classes. Where families can enjoy an outdoor concert or a rooftop movie night. Where seniors can join neighbors for coffee and conversation. Where the public and their government can meet, work, and collaborate under one roof.
City Centre is where the idea of Brookhaven Better Together becomes real.
We’ve come a long way as a city since our humble beginning in December 2012. This moment defines how we gather to get things done for all. It’s about transforming city government from a place you go when you have a problem into a place you go to celebrate, participate, and connect.
On behalf of the city council, our staff, and everyone who helped make this dream a reality, I invite you to join us on August 9. Come see what we’ve built together and stay for the festivities with music and fellowship. Because at the end of the day, this is your house. And in Brookhaven, we’re always better together.
