More than 1,500 protest events against the Trump administration are planned across the country, including metro Atlanta, on Thursday, July 17.

“Good Trouble Lives On” is described as a national day of action and protest to respond to the attack on human and civil rights by the Trump administration.

July 17 is also the fifth anniversary of the death of civil rights leader and Georgia congressman John Lewis, who coined the idea of making “good trouble” to bring about change.

Protests around metro Atlanta are planned for Downtown Atlanta, Decatur, Marietta, Alpharetta, Kennesaw, and Snellville.

Another main event is at 219 Auburn Ave., which is the site of the giant “HERO” mural depicting John Lewis. The event is set from 4 to 10 p.m., including a march at 4:30 p.m. to Ebenezer Baptist Church, where a panel discussion will be held at 5:25 p.m. with Tariq Craft, Noah Waters, Angel Edwards, and Autumn Smith. A block party celebration starts at 6:30 p.m. and will include live music, speeches, and food trucks.

Another event will be held at The King Center, 450 Auburn Ave., beginning at 3:30 p.m. and will include guest speakers and a march along the Atlanta Beltline.

The nationwide “No Kings” rallies against Trump on June 14 brought millions into the streets, including thousands in metro Atlanta.
