Illuminarium, the cinematic virtual reality space on the Atlanta Beltline’s Eastside Trail, is reopening to the public with a brand new rock ‘n’ roll experience today, July 17.
Illuminarium has partnered with Rolling Stone magazine for the Atlanta premiere of “Rolling Stone Presents: Amplified, The Immersive Rock Experience.” Narrated by actor and musician Kevin Bacon, the 50-minute experience is a “genre-spanning journey through sound, culture, and the stories behind the artists who have changed the world,” according to a press release.
Built exclusively for Illuminarium by Atlanta-based Brand New World Studios, helmed by executive producer and former president of Turner Entertainment Networks Brad Siegel, the show draws from over 1,000 rare and iconic photographs, 200 archival video clips, 1,300 Rolling Stone magazine covers, and features more than 300 legendary artists ranging from Elvis and Aretha to Nirvana and Beyoncé.

The show uses advanced 4K laser projection, 3D audio, and interactive technologies to immerse visitors in “virtual reality without the glasses.”
“We can think of no better partner than Rolling Stone, the authoritative voice that has chronicled the history of rock, to embark on our newest, most unique experience,” Alan Greenberg, CEO of Illuminarium, said in a statement. “Our guests will be awestruck by the sound and images from floor to ceiling. This is much more than a show – it’s a time machine for music fans of all ages.”
Originally opened in 2021, Illuminarium began leasing its space for private and corporate events last year while retooling its projection equipment and finding fresh immersive experiences for visitors.
