
Sandy Springs City Council member Melody Kelley was elected as the Georgia Municipal Association’s vice president for District Three North for the 2025–2026 term.
Kelley was sworn in during GMA’s Annual Convention held in Savannah in June, according to a news release.
In the position, Kelley will serve as a liaison between GMA and local municipal officials in the district. According to the news release, her responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of GMA policies, advocating on behalf of cities, and supporting efforts to strengthen local governance through training and networking.

District Three encompasses the metropolitan core of the Atlanta region. It includes cities in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale counties.
GMA’s 66-member board consists of active city officials, primarily mayors and council members, from across the state, according to the release. The presidents of the Georgia City-County Management Association, the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association, the GMA City Attorneys Sections, and the chair of the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System Board of Trustees have seats on the board.
The board of directors provides general oversight and guidance to the 537-member organization. It adopts governance policies and advocates for cities’ legislative interests at the state and federal levels.
