The long-awaited opening of Tipsy Thaiger in Roswell took place on Tuesday. The Thai restaurant and bar opened in the former Public House space on Atlanta Street across from Roswell’s historic town square. Check out the dinner and cocktail menus here.
Eclipse di Luna will open on Labor Day at SPX Alley, next door to Pour Taproom on the Eastside Beltline. The tapas restaurant and bar replaces Nina & Rafi, which closed in April. Unlike the three other locations of Eclipse di Luna in Metro Atlanta, the Beltline location is part of a partnership with Rreal Tacos owner Damian Otero. Read more here.
News to Know
Slutty Vegan faces yet another lawsuit, according to the AJC (subscription). This time for unpaid rent on two properties along Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. Edgewood Avenue includes a location of Slutty Vegan. The AJC reports that the complaint filed by an affiliate of landlord Asana Partners, which owns Krog Street Market and Plaza Fiesta, alleges owner Pinky Cole and her current and past businesses owe more than $87,000 in back rent, late fees and interest.
Cole briefly lost control of her company “after a rocky 2024,” telling People magazine in April, “I was chasing something that I couldn’t catch for so many reasons,” and that she “wasn’t the operational person.” Since taking back the Slutty Vegan brand in March, she formed a new company under the Ain’t Nobody Coming to See You, Otis LLC – inspired by “The Temptations” mini series – and closed Slutty Vegan locations in Duluth and on the campuses of Spelman and Clark Atlanta.
Bar Vegan, a cocktail bar and restaurant founded by Cole and her Slutty Vegan partners, closed in May after four years at Ponce City Market. That same month, Cole opened a new vegan sandwich restaurant in the former Slutty Vegan space in Westview called Voagies.
Southern restaurant chain Cracker Barrel caused quite the dust-up last week after revealing a new logo, part of the company’s “enhanced brand look.” The rebrand simplified the logo to just “Cracker Barrel,” doing away with “Old Country Store” and the depiction of a white man in overalls known as “Old Timer” seated in a chair leaning against a wooden storage barrel.
Cue enraged customers, talking heads, and even the President, who took to social media to complain about the simplification of the logo and the erasure of said old-timer man from the rebrand. The backlash was so fierce, the company did a 180 this week and reverted to its former logo.
