Local independent radio station WRFG 89.3 will host the 40th annual Labor Day Blues Barbecue on Monday, Sept. 1.

WRFG, which is also celebrating its 52nd year on the airwaves, is marking these milestones with an “exceptional lineup of premier blues talent” for Monday’s event.

For starters, one of America’s top blues and soul vocalists, multiple Blues Music Award winner John Németh.

This year’s honoree is a young, generational talent, the pride of Greenville, GA, country blues guitarist Jontavious Willis.

The 2025 Blues Barbecue will be headlined by another IBC winner, Alligator recording artist Selwyn Birchwood. Blue Velvet Atlanta, winners of the 2025 Atlanta Blues Challenge, have also joined the lineup.

This WRFG event will be held at The Park Tavern in Piedmont Park. Their doors will open at noon. The music starts at 1 p.m. and goes on until 8 p.m.

$30 advance tickets are now available. They will be $40 the day of the show. Kids 12 and under are free.
