The creators of “Phineas and Ferb” and the directors of the hit film “KPop Demon Hunters” are some of the guests that will be joining this year’s SCAD AnimationFest.
Hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design, SCAD AnimationFest will run from Sept. 25-27 at the university’s SCADshow theater.
This year’s festival will open by presenting Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the creators of the Disney series “Phineas and Ferb,” with the festival’s Legends in Animation Award. The ceremony will include a screening of an episode and a conversation with the creators as they reflect on the legacy of the show.
On the closing night, SCAD AnimationFest will present Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, the directors of the hit Netflix film “KPop Demon Hunters,” with the festival’s Impact Award. Appelhans is expected to be in attendance and will participate in a Q&A after a screening of the film.
“SCAD AnimationFest returns to SCADshow with a delicious mix of childhood nostalgia and the new sensations lighting up today’s feeds,” SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace said in a press release.
Other guests throughout the weekend include Ozlem Akturk, co-creator and director of photography of “The Tiny Chef Show;” Rob Dressel, director of cinematography and layout at Walt Disney Animation Studios; Mike Roth, the executive producer and showrunner of “Bat-Fam;” and many more. In addition to “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Phineas and Ferb,” attendees will be able to go to screenings of movies and shows like “Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires” and “The Mighty Nein.”
The festival will feature numerous panels and sessions with executives and creatives from Amazon MGM Studios/Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Netflix, Warner Bros. Animation, Disney Jr., Disney Branded Television, and SCAD alumni. The full schedule can be found on the festival’s website.
Passes for the weekend are on sale. Individual tickets go on sale Sept. 19.
