Two Dunwoody realtors who “flipped it forward” at a Tucker home have completed the project, enabling them to donate $46,000 to Atlanta Angels, a non-profit focused on supporting foster care children and the families who house them.

Amy and Jon Pedersen of the Purpose Driven Real Estate Group purchased the former home of Ray and Sydney Lund on New Year’s Eve of 2024, and upon finding out that the couple had fostered more than 40 children throughout their lives, decided renovate the house and donate the net proceeds of the sale to Atlanta Angels.

In order to maximize the donation, the Pedersens sought in-kind donations and donated work from local contractors.

Those vendors included Ace My Space, Katherine Ingalls Design, Kristen Eudy Architecture, RealKit, Focus Films, Stand Up Guys Junk Removal, Apex Roofing Solutions, CSN Services GA, Window World of Atlanta, R Randolf Interiors, Legacy Countertops, The Hardwood Guys – Flooring, Edwin Bautista, Phoenix Deco, and JR Tile Renova.

“So many people stepped up, and none of this would have happened without these amazing community partners,” Amy Pedersen said. “Without their help, this flip would have cost $250,000 at least.”

The duo are no strangers to flipping houses, having completed more than 30 since 2016. As part of their business, the Pedersens assist homeowners who may not have the funds to repair their homes prior to selling them by fronting the renovation costs.

Amy said the couple had been thinking about doing a charity flip, and upon hearing the Lund’s fostering efforts from their daughter, Kathy Lund Rogers, all of the stars aligned.

Extensive renovations to the brick ranch home included creating a primary ensuite, an all-new kitchen and adding a half bath, along with many maintenance items, including a new roof. Amy said, as with any renovation, there were a few surprises, including replacing sheet rock and “some crawl space surprises,” but after nine months, it was ready for the market.

After only 11 days on the market, the home sold for $550,000, allowing the Pedersens to donate $46,122 to Atlanta Angels, well above their $25,000 goal.

Before a walk-through of the renovated property with Rogers, Amy said the couple was very nervous about how she would feel about the new look.

“The first thing she said was ‘This is what my parents always wanted to do,'” and then we knew it would be okay,” she said.

Amy said she and Jon, who found the work “such a bigger platform for us,” are already looking for the next charity flip house.

“We were at lunch right after the house sold, and I said, ‘Jon, what’s next?’ and he asked if we could finish our lunch first,” she said. “But we are both so excited to find the next one.”
