Sandy Springs-based Newell Brands Inc. awarded $175,000 in an employee-led grant program that includes four nonprofit partners in metro Atlanta.
The Newell Brands Charitable Foundation established its Local Impact Grant Program to foster nonprofit partnerships and deepen employee engagement in philanthropy, according to a news release. Employees nominate and vote for local 501(c)(3) nonprofits that are located within 30 miles of a U.S. Newell office or facility.
“Through our Local Impact Grant Program, we’re proud to support Atlanta-based nonprofits making meaningful change in our communities, from feeding families to providing critical healthcare access,” Christina Moylan, director of Events and Philanthropy for Newell Brands, told Rough Draft Atlanta.
Moylan said the grants reflect the heart of the company’s employees by supporting causes that matter to its employees, its values, and an ongoing commitment to making a positive and lasting impact in the communities where they live and work.

The Georgia grant recipients include the Atlanta Community Food Bank, a five-time grant recipient. The nonprofit will use its $15,000 grant to expand innovative programs like school-based mobile pantries. According to the release, the food pantries the food bank supports distributed 3.8 million pounds of food to more than 150,000 children and their families, promoting health, stability, and equity across the community in fiscal year 2025.
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation is another five-time grant recipient. The $10,000 it was awarded will support the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, providing health education, asthma care, school-required immunizations, health checks, and sports physicals. Te mobile clinic unit brings pediatric primary care to where children live, learn, and play.
The release said the mobile care unit visited 33 schools with majority low-income student populations in the Atlanta Public and Fulton County systems in 2024. During that year, it managed 1,056 patient visits across 979 unique patients.
A $5,000 grant to City of Refuge will support Eden Village, a housing program that provides safe shelter and comprehensive services for women and children experiencing homelessness, according to the release.
“This grant from Newell Brands is more than financial support – it’s a lifeline for women and children experiencing homelessness. With this generous grant, Eden Village can continue providing safe housing, meals, education, and workforce development that empower families to rebuild their lives. We’re grateful for this partnership with Newell Brands in enabling us to continue our important work,” City of Refuge Chief Development Officer Edward Phillips said.
The LifeLine Animal Project is a two-time grant recipient. The $9,600 in grant funds it was awarded will support the Pets for Life program to provide a year’s worth of pet food and kennels for families in Atlanta’s most impoverished neighborhoods. The release said that the program offers free pet care resources to help keep pets with their owners, reducing shelter intake and supporting the human-animal bond in underserved communities.
“Newell Brands’ support allows LifeLine to keep pets at home with the families who love them. Through our Pets for Life program, we’re reducing shelter intake and strengthening the human-animal bond in Atlanta’s most underserved communities. We’re grateful that Newell Brands is furthering this vital community outreach,” said Lindsey Grant, LifeLine Animal Project’s donor communications manager.
