Funeral services will be held for former Dunwoody High School Football Coach Mike Nash on Oct. 12 at Dunwoody Baptist Church.
In addition, a GoFundMe has been established after the sudden passing of former Dunwoody High School Football Coach Mike Nash, who died Oct. 3. It has surpassed $30,000, with a goal of $50,000.
Nash, according to multiple social media posts, including one from Dunwoody High School, died following emergency surgery after battling a sudden onset of liver failure.
“Coach Nash dedicated over 10 years as the head football coach, building not only a program, but a family,” the DHS post said. “His legacy as a mentor, leader, and friend will continue to live on in the lives of countless players and the family he impacted.”
Nash had resigned in February after a decade at DHS to coach at Chattahoochee County High School for the 2025-26 school year.
The family, according to an announcement, will receive visitors at the church, located at 1445 Mt. Vernon Rd., from 3 to 4 p.m., with the service to follow. Attendees are asked to dress in colors that reflect how they knew Nash and the various teams he coached or supported throughout the years.
In March, the Dunwoody Homeowners Association awarded Nash with one of its highest honors – naming him the 2025 Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade marshal.
“Our community is heartbroken by the loss of Coach Mike Nash, a beloved leader, teacher, and mentor whose impact reached far beyond the football, lacrosse, and baseball fields,” the GoFundMe said. “Coach Nash spent nearly a decade leading the Dunwoody Wildcats and had just begun a new chapter as head coach at Chattahoochee County High School. He built everything around one word, F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Forget About Me, I Love You), a motto he lived by every single day.”
Nash was a husband to Tracy, a father to Jordan and Gracie, and, most recently, had become a grandfather. The GoFundMe will cover funeral and memorial service costs, his medical expenses, and longer-term living expenses for the Nash family, the GoFundMe narrative said.
“Coach Nash always told his teams to finish strong,” the statement said. “Now, it’s our turn to finish strong for him by lifting up his family, carrying forward his legacy, and showing that the F.A.M.I.L.Y. he built still stands strong today.”
Chattahoochee County High School will hold a candlelight vigil at the school’s stadium Wednesday, Oct. 8, starting at 6 p.m. to honor Nash, “a man who deeply loved his players, his family, and this community,” according to an announcement on social media. “His time with us was short, but his impact will be felt for years to come.”
