Louisiana State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Derrick Groves, 28, was involved in a standoff in Atlanta.

NewsChopper 2 flew over a standoff on Honeysuckle Lane near Campbellton Road. The front door of the home had been broken down and the garage door was destroyed.

Investigators told Channel 2’s Tom Jones that they found Groves in a crawl space underneath the home.

Jones was the only reporter who got video of a handcuffed Groves being placed into a police car and taken away.

As he was being driven off, he screamed at the Channel 2 Action News camera on scene that he was sorry and didn’t want to go back to prison.

Jones spoke with the homeowner, Richard McQueen, who said he didn’t know the tenants living in the home.

“I mean, I don’t know what was going on,” McQueen said. “I’m like you, speechless.”

He said the people living in the home were always quiet and he only stopped by to collect the rent.

McQueen added that he’s concerned about who will be responsible for paying for the damage caused on Wednesday.
