Several Dunwoody events are available this weekend that include beautification, farmer’s markets, and a goat pie-eating contest.
The Great Dunwoody Cleanup will be held tomorrow, Nov. 1 from sunrise to sunset, according to a release from the city. Participants can sign up as an individual, family, neighborhood, team or civic group. Workers are urged to bring buckets or bags from home, gloves or a grabber, and masks.
“The goal is to pick up trash and debris to keep it from polluting Dunwoody streams. Volunteers should choose a spot in Dunwoody,” the release said. “It can be a street, a neighborhood common area, a stream, or wooded area.”
The city can provide community service verification for the cleanup work if needed. Send an email to request verification.
Those looking to join a group can join the Kingsley Elementary fall cleanup to improve the school’s outdoor classroom from 10 a.m. to noon. Use this link to register.
Two farmers’ markets will be in play this weekend as well. On Saturday, the DHA will hold its weekly event from Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Brook Run Park. Sunday’s farmer’s market, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be in the Shops of Dunwoody.
On Sunday, Nov. 2 from 2-3 p.m., the city is holding the Goat Pumpkin Pie-Eating Contest at Brook Run Park. People can donate carved or uncarved pumpkins and watch three goats go head-to-head in a pumpkin-eating showdown.
