Heritage Preparatory School has officially closed on the purchase of 1700 Piedmont Ave. NE in Piedmont Heights, the longtime home of its lower school serving students in Pre-K through 5th grade.
According to a press release, Heritage has rented the property from Morningside Baptist Church since 2022. With this purchase, the two institutions are continuing their partnership—this time with roles reversed. Heritage will now own the property, and Morningside Church will lease space for Sunday worship, the press release said.
Heritage completed its goal of raising $6.5 million to purchase, remediate, and renovate the South Campus property, as well as completing its ONE Heritage Capital Campaign.
“This opportunity secures a lasting home for our lower school, expands our classroom capacities, and strengthens our classical Christian mission in the heart of Atlanta,” Erin Hames, President at Heritage Preparatory School, said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful for the commitment of our community through prayer, partnership, and giving. Most of all, we give thanks to the Lord for His provision and unfailing goodness.”
Heritage Preparatory School, which was founded in 1998, purchased the Rock Spring Presbyterian Church property just across the street in 2020, which currently houses the upper school for students in 6th through 12th grade. Last May, Heritage celebrated its first inaugural graduating class, marking a milestone in the school’s history. Together with the South Campus purchase, these properties now provide an almost 18-acre unified home for Heritage’s full Pre-K through 12th grade community, according to the press release.
