1. High Museum ‘The Lost World’: Minnie Evans’ first major exhibition in 30 years
VIA SKETCHBOOK, A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ABOUT ART | SUBSCRIBE
✏️ Opening tomorrow at the High Museum of Art, The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans is the first major exhibition devoted to Evans in three decades.
Bringing together more than 100 works, the show traces her practice from the 1930s to the 1960s. This span saw Evans move from intimate drawings to kaleidoscopic compositions and collages informed by visions, faith, and daily life in Wilmington, NC.
Before the exhibition debuts (and ahead of its travel to the Whitney Museum of American Art), Senior Curator of American Art and Boone Curator of Folk & Self-Taught Art Katherine Jentleson discusses with Rough Draft’s Sherri Daye Scott why this is the moment to revisit Evans’s legacy – and how the “lost world” opens onto a fuller portrait of the artist.

2. Dunwoody dedicates new veterans installation at Brook Run Park
🪖 Attendees braved 40-degree temperatures and brisk winds to dedicate a new veterans installation at Brook Run Park during an abbreviated ceremony on Nov. 11.
The memorial features marble plaques, service flags, an eternal flame, and a Soldier’s Cross – a symbolic tribute with a rifle, helmet, and boots representing the fallen. A small path connects the Veterans Memorial with the Vietnam War Memorial, which was dedicated last year.
Dunwoody Parks and Recreation began planning the memorial’s revitalization in 2022, and DeKalb County Commissioner Robert Patrick allocated $100,000 from his district’s discretionary funds for the design.

3. What Atlantans need to know about the new self-driving minibuses coming to town in 2026
⚽ Atlanta is preparing for more autonomous vehicles (AVs) to hit the streets in 2026 … just in time for the FIFA World Cup.
But unlike the Waymo vehicles that are now all over the streets of Intown Atlanta, these AVs add more options to Atlanta’s public transportation landscape. Through a 12-month project, which is a partnership between the Atlanta Beltline and the Orlando-based startup Beep, Inc., self-driving shuttles will start to run along a three-mile round-trip route connecting the Atlanta University Center, MARTA’s West End Station, and the Atlanta Beltline Southwest Trail at the Lee + White Entertainment District.
Each vehicle will carry at least 12 passengers, providing a new transit option for residents, workers, and the international visitors expected during the World Cup.
