A sign at its entrance on the second floor of the bustling mall, announced the closure, and directed customers to its Norcross location on Peachtree Parkway. Most of the clothing in the store was discounted 40 to 60 percent.

The company website does not include any information about the reasons behind the Perimeter Mall closure. In addition to the Norcross location, Talbots has retail locations in Vinings, Buckhead, Alpharetta, and East Cobb.

Several so-called underperforming stores have closed around the country in the last several years, including one in Jacksonville, FL in June. Several years ago, Talbots had moved from its location in Park Place to Perimeter Mall, a move that provided it a much higher profile.

Tomorrow’s News Today reported on Dec. 19 that Canadian women’s apparel retailer Aritzia will open its second Atlanta area location in the former Talbots location early next year. Aritzia’s website did not include any information on a move to Perimeter Mall. It has a location in Lenox Square, its only in Georgia.

Brookfield Properties, which owns and manages Perimeter Mall, lists only two vacancies at the 1.5 million square-foot mall on its website.
