The Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) has promoted longtime employee Greg Sims to Chief Development Officer.
Sims, who joined ACFB in 2012, will oversee the nonprofit organization’s fundraising, volunteer engagement, donor relations and marketing efforts.
He most recently served as the food bank’s Director of Institutional Giving, as well as Director of Individual Giving, prior to that.
Before joining the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Sims carved out a nonprofit career spanning a range of causes, like refugee resettlement, volunteer management, faith-based advocacy and community development work in Guatemala.
“I am honored to step into this leadership role to continue serving a mission and an organization that feeds hope, unites communities, and transforms lives,” said Sims in a prepared statement.
The Atlanta Community Food Bank stands as the fourth-largest food bank (by distribution) in the U.S., and provided 112 million meals in fiscal year 2025, supporting roughly three million neighbor visits.
Kyle Waide, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, said that Sims has the skills to thrive in his new role and help the organization to accomplish its goals.
“Greg has been an integral part of growing our organization over the past decade, and we are incredibly proud to promote him to this new executive position,” said Waide. “As we face rising demand and new challenges in our fight against hunger, Greg’s deep understanding of our community and his strategic mindset will be invaluable in advancing our mission to connect those in need with nutritious food and essential resources.”
Founded to address food insecurity across the metro Atlanta region, the Atlanta Community Food Bank partners with more than 700 nonprofit organizations in 29 counties to provide nutritious meals to families, children and seniors.
