The Dunwoody community is rallying to raise $100,000 to help with transportation costs for a Dunwoody High School graduate who was seriously injured in a skiing accident in Colorado.

The effort has garnered more than $66,000 as of Jan. 3.

“While on a ski trip in Colorado, our close friend Ayden Slipsager, a 2025 Dunwoody High School graduate and freshman at UGA, a member of Theta Chi fraternity, was involved in a serious accident that left him with life-altering injuries,” the GoFundMe page reports. “Since that day, he has been fighting hard and showing incredible progress, but the road ahead is long and challenging.”

Slipsager, who suffered a traumatic brain injury along with other casualties, has been accepted into Atlanta’s Shepherd Center, but the cost to safely transport him from Colorado to Atlanta is estimated to be at least $100,000, which is not fully covered by insurance, the fundraising website narrative said.

“We are asking for help so we can get him safely to Atlanta and give him the best possible chance at recovery,” it said. “Any donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page also means more than you know.”

On the GoFundMe page, his mother, Tami, said Ayden continues to improve every day.

“We are truly blessed and grateful to each and every single person who has reached out to express their concern for Ayden, as well as their love and support,” she said.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Ayden,  who is majoring in finance through the Terry College of Business, was a graduate of the DHS Finance Academy, which was “crucial to my learning and understanding of everything finance.”

He co-founded Bright Bins of Dunwoody, according to his profile, is fluent in Spanish, and worked at one of the Publix locations in Dunwoody as a store clerk.
