Update: Dunwoody High School graduate Ayden Slipsager, who was severely injured in a skiing accident in Colorado, has now been transported to Shepherd Center, thanks to more than $100,000 in donations garnered through a GoFundMe campaign.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support Ayden has received,” according to a post on the page by Tara Hastie on Jan. 6. “Thanks to the generosity of so many, he has safely arrived at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta and is already making encouraging progress in his recovery.”

However, as costs mount for his treatment, the campaign continues with a $120,000 goal. It now tops $104,000 in donations.

“While this was a huge milestone, the cost of the medical transport to get Ayden here is still being paid for,” the post said. “Even though he’s now at Shepherd, that expense hasn’t gone away, and his family continues to face significant financial strain as they work through these costs alongside ongoing care.”

Slipsager, a 2025 Dunwoody High School graduate and freshman at UGA, was involved in a serious skiing accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury, along with other casualties.

On the GoFundMe page, his mother, Tami, said Ayden continues to improve every day.

“We are truly blessed and grateful to each and every single person who has reached out to express their concern for Ayden, as well as their love and support,” she said.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Ayden, who is majoring in finance through the Terry College of Business, was a graduate of the DHS Finance Academy, which was “crucial to my learning and understanding of everything finance.”

He co-founded Bright Bins of Dunwoody, according to his profile, is fluent in Spanish, and worked at one of the Publix locations in Dunwoody as a store clerk.
