The funding will allow Caring For Others to grow its school-based pantries and clothing closets in at least two school clusters, providing food, clothing and other supplies to over 3,500 families.

The program delivers the essential items directly within the numerous Atlanta school communities, with the aim of strengthening families and schools throughout the region.

“Schools are where needs show up first and where we can make an immediate impact and change outcomes,” said Dr. Eslene Richmond Shockley, founder, president and CEO of Caring For Others. “This partnership allows us to meet families with dignity, respond in real time and build sustainable support systems inside schools.”

The financial contribution was made official during a check presentation Wednesday morning at a Kroger store in Marietta, with various nonprofit leaders and corporate partners in attendance.

The Kroger Foundation said that the investment aligns with its “Zero Hunger | Zero Waste” initiative, which focuses on addressing food insecurity and waste through partnerships and innovation.

“We are deeply grateful to Kroger, Heinz and Kellanova for standing with our students and families when it matters most,” said Shockley.
