The Atlanta Track Club wants local artists to create the shirt that 50,000 runners will wear home from the Peachtree Road Race this summer.

The club opened submissions Thursday for its annual T-shirt design contest, which awards $5,700 to the winner whose artwork will appear on finisher shirts for the July 4 race. The prize reflects the event’s 57th year. Second and third place earn $2,000 and $1,000.

Artists can submit up to three designs through the club’s website until Feb. 20 at 11:59 p.m. Last year’s contest drew nearly 400 entries from 16 states. Click here to submit an entry.

“The Peachtree finisher’s shirt is more than fabric and ink, it’s a memory you wear and a story you keep,” said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. “By designing, you become part of Atlanta’s Fourth of July tradition and shape a moment that thousands will carry with them long after the race ends.”

The contest added a new requirement this year: all designs must be entirely human-created. Artwork made with or assisted by artificial intelligence is not eligible.

The club also suggested, but did not require, that designers incorporate the 250th anniversary of the United States into their work. Atlanta Track Club plans to mark the milestone throughout 2026 as the city prepares to host World Cup matches.

A panel of judges will select five finalists based on creativity and how well each design reflects the race’s history. Public voting runs March 9 through April 10 via the AJC News App. The winning design stays secret until the first runner crosses the finish line in Piedmont Park.
