Peachtree Road United Methodist Church will host a two-day suicide prevention summit next month featuring Kay Warren, a mental health advocate whose work has shaped how faith communities address mental illness and suicide.

The Step Out & Speak Up Summit on Feb. 1-2 brings together clergy, clinicians, and community members for training sessions designed to recognize and respond to suicidal thinking. Warren, who co-founded Saddleback Church with her husband Rick, will deliver the keynote address Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.

Warren founded Hope for Brighter Tomorrows in 2024 to support parents affected by mental illness and help churches develop care systems for families in crisis. She previously established the Hope for Mental Health Community at Saddleback Church.

The summit offers three training tracks on Feb. 2:

  • The safeTALK program teaches community members how to recognize warning signs of suicide through half-day sessions running 1-5 p.m. or 4-8 p.m.
  • The CAMS-care track, led by Dr. Melinda Moore, provides clinicians with assessment and management tools during an 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. session.
  • A faith leader workshop runs 8 a.m.-noon for clergy and lay leaders.

All trainings are free. Clinicians can purchase continuing education units.

The Peace of Mind Partnership at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church is presenting the summit in partnership with The One Lamb Initiative.
