Early voting began today, Feb. 16 in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District to replace former U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Greene, a firebrand Republican who represented the Northwest Georgia district for about five years, resigned the position in January, prompting a special election to fill her unexpired term.
Out of an original 22 candidates vying for the seat, 18 remained to make their pitch to voters during debates held Sunday.
One message was clear from all candidates: They are not seeking the spotlight and notoriety that became synonymous with Greene during her tenure in Congress.
Republican Clay Fuller said he’s the only candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump.
“I think [voters are] looking for someone to carry President Trump’s banner, support his agenda, and fight for him on Capitol Hill,” Fuller said.
Democrat Shawn Harris, who ran against Greene in 2024, said this race feels different.
“People, farmers are hurting across the board in the district,” Harris said. “The people are saying it’s time for something different.”
Early voting runs through Friday, March 6, with election day on March 10. The crowded race is likely to go to a runoff, which would be held April 7.
