1. Atlanta Opera breaks ground on Molly Blank Center for Opera
🏗️ The Atlanta Opera held a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 16 for its new headquarters in Buckhead.
The $64 million Molly Blank Center for Opera and the Arts will include the historic Bobby Jones Golf Course Clubhouse, which will be preserved as a main entryway into the new campus.
Funding for the project came from a $110 million fundraising campaign, which included a $27.5 million gift from Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank to name the center after his mother, Molly, who was an artist. The new center is expected to open in the fall of 2027.

2. Georgia legislature proposes new food-related bills, including transparency in shrimp labeling
🦐 Midway through the 2026 Georgia legislative session, we are beginning to see food and drink-related bills make their way out of committee and to the floors of the state house and senate – and even to the governor’s desk.
This may not seem like the sexiest dining topic, especially given the Beltline bagel drama that recently took over social media, or any story on a big restaurant opening.
We look at which food and beverage bills legislators and lobbyists are pushing and how these potential new laws could affect our restaurant and beverage industries at the state and local levels.
