Police have confirmed that one person has died and two are injured a “targeted” shooting in DeKalb in the early hours of Feb. 23.

DeKalb County Police Department officers responded around 4:15 a.m. to a report of three victims wounded who arrived for treatment at Emory Decatur Hospital, Blaine Clark, DeKalb County Police Department public information officer, told Rough Draft. One person died as a result of their injuries, and two other victims are in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

Police have learned that the shooting occured on Highway 78 near Orion Drive. As a part of the search for a suspect, police responded to the area of Highway 78 and North Druid Hills Road, which stalled traffic and stirred concern from local residents in Tucker, Scottdale and Decatur.

“Investigators are looking at this as potentially a targeted attack, not a random shooting or a case of road rage,” Clark said. “I would again say this investigation is open and active, and investigators want to hear from anyone with any additional information.”

Police identified a witness in the area but are continuing their search for a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information can send an anonymous tip through the DeKalb County PD app or by texting “DKPD” to 847411.
