Feb. 28 — Happy last day of February! Tomorrow marks the beginning of Women’s History Month, honoring the contributions of women throughout American history. 

🌤️  It will be sunny with a high of 65° today, with more clouds and temperatures possibly reaching into the 70s tomorrow. 

MARKET UPDATE

📉 Stocks closed the week down amid concerns about inflation and growing fears about the impact of AI on the economy. The Dow dropped by just over 600 points, or 1.2%. The S&P 500 fell by 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite was down 1%.

Locally, Delta Air Lines dropped by 6.82%, while Coca-Cola rose 1.32%. Atlanta Braves Holdings, Inc. fell by 0.72%, and Home Depot went up by 1.5%.

🏈 The Falcons fired assistant coach LaTroy Lewis on Friday after sexual assault allegations surfaced stemming from a Dec. 5, 2024, incident when Lewis was on the Michigan football staff.

🗳️ A federal judge ordered Fulton County and the U.S. Department of Justice to enter mediation to determine the fate of ballots seized last month.

🤝 Georgia lawmakers reached a compromise on the mid-year budget after Gov. Brian Kemp dug up an extra $1.4 billion in surplus funds.

🍿 The IPIC dine-in movie theater at Colony Square in Midtown will close its doors for good on April 28.

🎟️ Tickets to two of the FIFA World Cup Decatur WatchFest concerts – Big Boi and Indigo Girls – sold out in minutes of their release on Friday.

🗣️ DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and former Ambassador Andrew Young discussed civil rights past and present at yesterday’s MLK Celebration of Heritage in Brookhaven.

🇵🇰 Pakistan proclaimed an “open war” against Afghanistan’s Taliban government after both sides exchanged cross-border strikes.

🔍 Former President Bill Clinton testified yesterday that he “did nothing wrong” to a House committee investigating his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

🏕️ Scouting America agreed to bar transgender youths from its programs after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pressured the organization, threatening to end the Pentagon’s century-old partnership if it failed to comply.

🤖 The White House ordered a government boycott of Anthropic’s Claude AI after the company refused to grant the Pentagon unrestricted access to its technology.

✡️ The seventh annual Atlanta Jewish Life Festival is at the Georgia Aquarium tomorrow from noon-4 p.m., celebrating Jewish and Israeli arts, food, and culture with live music and kosher food vendors.

🌶️ The 20th Annual Chili for the Children cookoff is tomorrow from 2-4 p.m. at Bar{n} in Dunwoody Village, benefiting Make-A-Wish Georgia.

🎨 Thriving Together Atlanta is hosting a special edition of its mobile art experience from 4-7 p.m. today at ONE Contemporary Gallery. The event will feature performances, interactive experiences, a portrait exhibit, and more. 

🍻 Bubbles and Brews, a month-long celebration of Cobb County breweries, wineries, and distilleries, begins tomorrow and runs through the end of March.

⚽ Atlanta United looks to pick up its first win of the season when they play at San Jose tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. (Apple TV+; 92.9 FM).

⛹️ The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Portland Trail Blazers at State Farm Arena tomorrow at 6 p.m.
