EATS is back

Iconic comfort food restaurant EATS officially reopened today inside the taproom at Wild Heaven Beer in West End. And you can expect familiar dishes on the menu, including $11 jerk chicken plates, spaghetti and meatballs, ziti alfredo, and barbecue chicken paired with Southern sides.

EATS closed on Ponce de Leon Avenue last fall. But in January, the restaurant made a surprise comeback when Wild Heaven purchased the restaurant and all of its memorabilia to redecorate the Lee + White taproom.

“We bought everything that’s inside the building,” Wild Heaven founder Nick Purdy said in January. “We’re planning to bring over the furniture, [and] the wall hangings that everybody loves so much.”

The restaurant’s longtime manager, Levi Nichols, oversees the day-to-day to ensure the food and vibe remain faithful to EATS and its mission to keep food low-key and affordable. “We’re not trying to be a tribute band. We’re trying to be the band and keep it going,” Purdy said.

Look for El Tesoro, which previously occupied Wild Heaven’s taproom kitchen, to reopen this month in the former Best End Brewing space at Lee + White.

EATS opens daily at 11 a.m. Check out Sarra’s peek inside EATS with Nick Purdy below.
