A Brookhaven man has been arrested in connection with a multi-state murder-for-hire investigation originating in California.

Jerry E. Wheeler, 34, was taken into custody March 25 at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Briarwood Road after Brookhaven police, working with the Murrieta, CA, Police Department and North Metro SWAT, executed a search warrant.

According to a release from the BPD, Wheeler was arrested without incident.

Wheeler is wanted in connection with the Jan. 13 homicide of Aaron “A.J.” Jacob Parr, 30, in Murrieta, CA., according to a report in Patch in January.

Murrieta officers responding to an apartment complex found Parr deceased. Investigators allege the killing was a deliberate and methodically planned murder-for-hire, the Brookhaven release said.

Wheeler is one of four suspects identified in the case. Two suspects, Ignacia Perkins and James Petri, were arrested Jan. 29. A third suspect, Kenneth Maxwell, was arrested March 25 in Midfield, AL, with assistance from the FBI.

Wheeler faces charges of murder, murder for financial or other consideration, and criminal conspiracy to commit murder. He is being held pending extradition to California.
