Monday, April 13 — Rory McIlroy briefly lost the lead Sunday before birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 put him back in control, and he held on for a one-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler to win his second consecutive Masters. McIlroy, who blew a six-stroke lead Saturday, became the fourth player ever to win back-to-back Green Jackets.

1. Dancing with the DeKalb Stars

🪩 In his latest weekly column, Bill Crane highlights Dancing with the DeKalb Stars, returning Sat., April 18, as DeKalb County Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling’s annual charity dance competition raises funds for victims of domestic violence.

Local politicians, civic leaders, and media personalities, including Crane and WSB-TV’s Mark Winne, are paired with professional dance instructors competing for a gloriously tacky disco ball trophy.

Proceeds benefit the International Women’s House and the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence. The event runs 5-9 p.m. at Porter Sanford Performing Arts & Community Center in Decatur.

2. ‘Warflation’ will hit more than just gas prices

⛽ The war in Iran may be on pause, but its effects on prices are still in motion and will continue to ripple through the economy after more than a month of disruption to the global oil supply. 

Gas prices, for starters, are up more than 40% since February, and aren’t likely to subside soon. Airfares have climbed as well. Other price hikes are likely to follow in the months ahead, in areas as disparate as food, clothing, and electronics. This comes on top of already persistent inflation.

3. Trump lashes out at Pope; Orbán loses amid record turnout in Hungary

🇭🇺 Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded defeat Sunday after 16 years in power, losing to pro-EU challenger Péter Magyar in a result that stunned populist allies around the world, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who had stumped for Orbán last week.

🇻🇦 President Trump blasted Pope Leo XIV on social media yesterday, saying he doesn’t “want a Pope who criticizes the President,” after the Chicago-born pontiff condemned U.S. military action against Iran. The Pope pushed back this morning, telling reporters, “I have no fear of the Trump administration.”
