The city’s announcement says serving on a city board is an opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of Norcross. Volunteer positions are a way to contribute ideas, support community initiatives, and help guide decisions that impact the city.

Norcross has 11 boards, commissions, and authorities (or BCAs). While the state legislature creates local authorities, like the Norcross Housing Authority, the city can establish boards and commissions to assist elected officials with policy direction and administrative duties.

Except for the Tree Preservation Board, which has one term expiring this June, the other three city boards will need to fill three seats.

Board members serve in an advisory capacity, offering recommendations to the mayor and council on a variety of topics, including planning, development, environmental stewardship, and historic preservation.

Residents interested can learn more and submit an application here.
