Murder, mystery, and mayhem will take the stage at Out Front Theatre with the world premiere of “Cluedunnit,” a fabulous drag whodunnit that turns the world of “Clue” on its head.

The show, written by Out Front’s Artistic Director Paul Conroy and actor Jack Caron, throws six drag queens, a secretive house mother, and an overworked houseboy together at Club Clue. Chaos ensues as victims drop dead, one after the other, and the group must find the murderer before it’s too late.

“Cluedunnit” was born from a desire to produce the stage version of the 1985 movie at Out Front. After the national tour of the show was extended through 2027, Conroy and Caron were left inspired to write their own.

While “Cluedunnit” bears little resemblance to the movie, the two drew inspiration from the board game – with colorful characters and multiple rooms and weapons – and made it as “unhinged and campy as possible,” Conroy told Georgia Voice.

“There’s a lot of crazy sh*t that happens,” Caron said. “There are a lot of risks being taken, a lot of props, and I feel like it’s a visual feast.”

The show is chaotic, rife with dirty jokes and an unapologetic, over-the-top queerness akin to what you’d see in a “Drag Race” acting challenge. Conroy said that there’s nothing serious to be taken from the show; he simply wants audiences to have fun.

“I think with everything that’s going on in the world, we need to give our audiences that time to reset and laugh and smile,” he said. “I think there’s nothing more powerful than sitting in a room of 100 strangers, and everyone’s laughing at the same thing.”

“Cluedunnit” opens at Out Front Theatre on April 30 at 8 p.m. and runs through May 16. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased on the theatre’s website.
