To kick off June, Fulton County Commissioner and Democratic candidate for Georgia Secretary of State Dana Barrett received an endorsement from Stacey Abrams.

“I am proud to endorse Dana Barrett for Secretary of State because she has the record, the experience, and the backbone to stand up to anyone who seeks to undermine our elections,” Abrams said. “On the Fulton County Commission, Dana protected Georgia’s elections from MAGA interference, defending the integrity of elections and making sure every vote counts. Dana is a proven fighter who will never give up on us.”

In the May 19 primary, Barrett advanced to a runoff against former Fulton County Judge Penny Brown Reynolds, who led all candidates with 42.3% of votes. Barrett bested two other Democratic candidates, receiving 35.2% of ballots.

Barrett said she is honored to have Abrams’ endorsement, crediting her career “fighting to make sure every eligible Georgian can vote without fear or interference.”

“I know what it takes to protect free, fair, and secure elections in Georgia’s largest county,” Barrett said. “As Donald Trump and his allies escalate attacks on our right to vote, I’m ready to take that fight statewide as Secretary of State.”
