The Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable invites families “to enjoy a morning of fun, discovery, and community connection” at Family Fun Day on Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Sandy Springs Farmers Market.

Volunteer Sandy Springs, one of the nonprofit’s initiatives to bring together residents, businesses, and other local charities, is partnering with the Sandy Springs Farmers Market to transform the popular Saturday market into a community celebration.

According to the announcement, Family Fun Day will feature interactive games for all ages, crafts and STEM activities, DJ music, face painting, and soccer. Local vendors with fresh produce and artisan foods will also be on-site.

The Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable is a nearly 40-year-old organization committed to strengthening nonprofits throughout the community. One thing nonprofit leaders around the city and metro area often cite is a need for more volunteers, especially regulars.

At the Aug. 29 farmers market, families will receive a “Community Passport” to explore nonprofit booths, engage in activities, and collect stamps for chances to win prizes donated by local businesses and community partners.  The grand prize is four tickets to the City Springs Theatre Company’s December production of “Anastasia.”

Volunteer Sandy Springs members are inviting the community to visit their booth to learn how individuals, families, students, retirees, and corporate teams can discover meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

“Family Fun Day is about bringing our community together in a way that is both enjoyable and impactful,” said Jan Paul, chair of the Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable. “While children are having fun, families will also discover how easy it is to make a difference through local volunteer service.”
